About The Project

The Morgue File was one of the most time-intensive and extensive projects of my college career. The assignment was a semester-long compilation following the course’s studies of a history of contemporary fashion. With every lecture of a new decade from the Victorian Age through the 1960s, we created a new section in the morgue file. These sections included a written introduction on the decade with historical highlights in culture and fashion, followed by decade features of the womenswear, menswear, and accessories.

The file was compiled with extensive visual research to pinpoint the critical moments in contemporary fashion, as well as an understanding of design concepts. While I had the option to use platforms such as Powerpoint, I chose Adobe Illustrator for more creative freedom. I chose fonts for each section that reflected the style used of the decade, as well as a clean layout with soft colors to spotlight the clothing.

The culmination of this file was daunting with the finalization of organizing all of the content, as well as an extremely lengthy bibliography with needed to reflect the images chosen. However, it was incredibly rewarding to review the completion of the project, and I believe it highlights several of my skills in writing, visual attention, and design.
